April 2021

Spring is here and Mother Nature is being kind to us. If your shingles are old and tired maybe it’s time to start planning for a new roof. Shingles that are curled are susceptible to wind damage. Missing shingles can cause leaks and further damage plywood, insulation and drywall. Our services are in high demand and we are booking up fast. Call for a free estimate and consultation.

March 2021

When it comes to winter I’m kind of like a grizzly bear. After a hard season of roofing I’m happy to hibernate for a few months to ride out the winter. When it comes to roofing, most winter weather is too cold for PROPER installation. Sure you can get “Joe Blow” roofer to tear your old shingles off and put new ones on in the dead of winter. All for a free whirly bird or to save the gst. But the truth is, the shingles need to be a certain temperature to properly lay flat and for the adhesive strip to properly seal. Bottom line is, whether you are having us do your home or another contractor, try to wait for warm weather if you can.

February 2021

Have you been affected by the recent wind storm? We have been busy repairing damaged shingles, fascia and soffit. Many of these repairs require full replacement this upcoming roofing season. Due to last year’s COVID-19 restrictions, manufacturers are having a challenging time keeping up with material demand.

To ensure we will be able to secure the materials for your home this year, it is important to book your jobs as soon as possible.

January 2021

Happy New Year!

With 2020 in the mirror and a busy 2021 ahead, we look forward to serving Medicine Hat and area. This year we are going to discuss differences in roofing materials and available products. With so many possible products available, we aim at giving you the education and information you need when choosing your exterior products.

December 2020

With a challenging year almost behind us, we are grateful for the support within our community this season.

Thank you to all our customers, past and present. We look forward to serving our community again in the new year.

November 2020

Well it’s that time of year again to start thinking about yard and house maintenance. Basic maintenance will help extend the life of your roof, eavestrough and siding.  As a general rule, you should remove and clear off all debris from the roof valleys and any other areas where leaves and twigs may pile up.

Be sure to clean out your eavestroughs and down pipes. Inspect and repair any missing shingles that you may have not noticed. Nail down any loose flashing and re caulk any dried up and cracked old tar.

Repair any missing or damaged down spouts to ensure the water drains properly away from your house.  Clean your siding following the manufacturing requirements.

For a free estimate, don’t hesitate to call 403-581-1355 today!

Did you know that not all shingles are created equal?

There are many many brands and manufacturers that sell similar styled shingles. But only a few stand out from the rest. Don’t be sold on the imitation. We are proud to offer only the best quality and visually attractive products on the market.

The shingles we use have the highest impact rating, the highest wind rating and are the heaviest in their class, covering the most sq. ft per bundle. With our professional installation and unbeatable warranty, you will have a product that will last for many years.

June 2020

A roofing contractor’s job entails a lot more than just slapping on some shingles and calling it good. There are many aspects of the job that you may not even know about.

Underlayment for example, what is the best? Do you need full underlayment or just the eaves covered? What are the different types of membranes and when do I need to use them?

There are many other areas in which we need to be knowledgeable.

We have electrical knowledge which is required when dealing with powered roof vents.

Plumbing and heating knowledge is required when dealing with old or improperly installed stacks or chimney vents.

We also have to have knowledge in insulation and proper roof ventilation.

Carpentry is essential when doing repairs or re sheathing the roof. Or knowledge of masonry and parging when re flashing an old chimney or a wall that was never flashed properly from the get go.

These are just a few of the hats we get to wear on a daily basis. Thats why hiring a reputable, qualified Expert® will save you possible headache and hassle from the start to finish.

May 2020

Now that spring has sprung things are in full swing here at The Roof Rider. There is no better time to book your roof, whether you want this spring summer or fall. We will be happy to serve you and earn your business. Honesty, integrity and quality work is our fundamental principles. With the price of oil low and the economy suffering I have notice huge influx of roofing contractors in the area. This influx is concerning to me for a couple of reasons. It is common for new contractors to under bid on an initial estimate but then ask for more money to cover extra materials and labour. Customers may not get a quality work, especially if the estimate is extremely different from others you got. Are these contractors properly licensed and insured? Did you know that you could be liable for any injuries or damages while they are working on your home; If they don’t have proper insurance. Will these companies be around to honour their warranty if or when there is a problem? Do you know who is doing the work? Or does that company sub it to other trades. So the lowest price is not always the best option. Do your research and ask questions. Or just give us a call at 403 581-1355 and save your self any problems.

April 2020 It’s almost spring and better weather is in sight. In this time of uncertainty, we all share a small responsibility to band together as a community. As we continue to live our lives as normal as possible, things will get better. If you are thinking of doing exterior renovations this Spring or Summer, give us a call. We are offering up to 15% off roofing, siding, fascia and soffit. We will continue to provide a high quality workmanship and service. Thanks for the continued support, I look forward to serving you.
